Anthropic just released Claude Sonnet 5, and it is a big step forward. It is the most capable Sonnet model yet, and it keeps Claude in front of the other AI tools.
I use Claude every day. It is my main tool for almost everything, both personal tasks and running my business. So when a new model comes out, I pay attention. This one is worth it.
What Is New
Sonnet 5 can do more on its own. It makes a plan, uses tools like a browser or a terminal, and works through a task from start to finish without needing you to guide every step. A few months ago, this kind of work needed the bigger, more expensive models. Now Sonnet can do it.
It is a real jump over the last version:
- Better at reasoning and thinking through a problem
- Better at using tools to get work done
- Better at writing, research, and everyday business tasks
- Its results are close to Opus, the top model, but at a lower price
Early testers said it finishes hard tasks that older versions used to give up on. It even checks its own work without being asked.
Why This Matters If You Run a Small Business
You do not need to be technical to feel the difference. A tool that plans, works on its own, and checks itself saves you real time. That could be drafting a proposal, sorting through research, writing emails, or building a first version of something you need today.
This is why I keep coming back to Claude. Every time the other AI tools catch up, Claude moves ahead again. For daily work, it is the one I trust.
How to Try It
Sonnet 5 is already live. It is the default on the Free and Pro plans, and it is available on Max, Team, and Enterprise too. It works across all the Claude apps. There is also introductory pricing until August 31, so it is a good time to test it.
Open Claude, give it a real task from your week, and see how far it gets on its own. That is the best way to understand what changed.
